Global Oceans Reports
Over a period of two years, I edited and designed a six reports for Greenpeace International about the threats facing the global oceans and the policy changes needed to protect them.
This included a ground-breaking, 78-page report detailing the impact of climate change on the oceans, covering oceanic circulation and chemistry, rising sea levels, increased storm intensity, changes in the diversity and abundance of marine species, and the impact this has on coastal communities and those who rely on fish stocks for sustenance.
I also edited and designed Hooked On Sharks, exploring the EU fishing fleets fuelling the global shark trade, Deep Trouble, exposing the murky world of the deep sea mining industry, Fishy Business, uncovering how transhipment at sea facilitates illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing that devastates our oceans, Turtles Under Threat and Squids In The Spotlight.
These reports combined scientific research with data analysis, making for potentially inaccessible reading. It was my job to turn them into digestible, compelling reads that persuaded world leaders of the need to protect our oceans by agreeing a strong Global Ocean Treaty – which they did in 2023.
